Knife designer Ethan Becker consulted combat veterans and active duty infantrymen when designing this fixed blade utility knife. The BK9 is a heavy-duty bowie capable of chopping, cutting, prying, and hammering, all without showing signs of wear. The narrow clip point blade is especially effective at thrust cuts. Forged from 1095 CroVan steel with Ultramid scales, it’s light enough to strap to a bag or belt without getting weighed down.

Why choose this knife?

  • Collaborative design between Ka-Bar and Becker Knives
  • Powerful bowie blade shape designed for tactical utility use
  • Strong full tang blade with lightweight polymer scales
  • Thumb perch with jimping provides a positive grip point
  • Black finish reduces reflectivity
  • Comes with a MOLLE compatible polyester sheath

Why not?

  • Heavy weight full-tang knife is not appropriate for everyday carry
  • Polyester sheath is not as durable as leather

Next level knife: Ka-Bar Becker Combat Utility Knife

Pro tip:
The bowie knife is named after American folk-hero, pioneer, and knife-fighter James Bowie. According to legend, James commissioned a blacksmith to forge him a uniquely shaped knife for use in an infamous duel known as the Sandbar Fight. The specifications of that original blade are widely disputed, but today the term bowie knife refers to any large fixed blade with a clip point and cross guard.
