KA-BAR Knives

A Kabar knife is a knife you can trust. You can never go wrong with a KA-BAR combat knife built for military, hunting, or sporting use. Even professionals in the culinary industry will not go wrong with a KA-BAR kitchen knife, while knife collectors and enthusiasts will fancy KA-BAR vintage knives.

Shop for popular KA-BAR models include the Becker BK2, Dozier Hunter Folding Knife, and the ZK Famine Tanto.

The Origins of KA-BAR

The company was first known as Union Cutlery Co., until a testimonial letter from a fur trapper in 1923 stated that he used one of their knives to kill a wounded bear that attacked him after his rifle jammed. However, the letter was only partially legible, in which "ka bar" could be read as fragments of "kill a bear". This bear story was adopted by the company, along with the name "Ka-Bar" trademarked in 1923, starting the legacy of the iconic KA-BAR name.

USMC Fighting Knife

This iconic knife design became standard military issue in the United States Marine Corps starting from 1942. The U.S.M.C. KA-BAR knives became well recognized throughout WWII for their quality and were so abundant in number that knives made in this pattern were all referred to as "Kabar," regardless of whether or not they were made by KA-BAR themselves. Today, a KA-BAR fighting knife remains the first choice fixed blade knife for many men and women of service, along with adventurers, survivalists, outdoor enthusiasts, and knife collectors all around the world.
